Everything regarding game design can be found here:
The following post will be updates regarding the development.
Following is the one-page-sheet I wrote for this game.
A game for PC ( Steam)
For players above 16 years of age
Rated T
A roguelike set in a post-apocalyptic future where zombies and global warming turned the world into an ever changing desert full of dangers and long forgotten secrets.
While trying to manage Hp, food and water to survive, the player will stumble upon remnants of the old world that can help understand why the world the lifeless waste it is now.
The player explores a randomly generated desert filled with hordes of zombies and ruins of the old world containing essential resources for survival, such as food and water, but also weapons, weapon upgrades, ammo, fuel and spare parts.
The player tries to find a surviving city called Hope, but its location will need to be pieced together from partial maps and hints via radios or abandoned settlements. While searching for Hope, the player will come across infested settlements, which contain hordes of zombies a boss fight and lots of loot.
Red Waste features multiple playable characters, that offer a unique starting experience, in addition to this, a randomly generated world makes every playthrough different and forces the player to adapt their gameplay to what the world throws at them.
Red Waste is a roguelike, that focuses heavily on exploration. Dwindling resources and the ever-shifting nature of the desert, push the player to keep moving forward.
While zombies are ever present in Red Waste, they aren’t the biggest threat to the players survival, as they are only dangerous in hordes - that are only attracted by loud explosions or fresh blood. The biggest threat is the scarcity of resources - especially food and water - but also spare parts for guns and vehicles.
Red Waste competes with games like “The Binding of Isaac”, “Darkest Dungeon” and “FTL: Faster Than Light”
It has more of a tactical approach to roguelike than “The Binding of Isaac”, with less unique items but more exploration and resource management.
It has more of a personal approach roguelike than “Darkest Dungeon”, focusing only on one character and their survival as well as a real time combat system like in “The Binding of Isaac”.
It’s approach to resource management is similar to FTL, but Red Waste focuses on a single character and relying on looting and exploring for resources, allowing little to no backtracking or resource storage.
